Bread & Butter is Europe’s largest trade fashion show, displaying collections from brands like Barbour, and Boss, to Nike and G-Star. Set amongst over 800,000 sq ft in Berlin’s Templehof Airport this huge show produced huge results drawing in hundreds of thousands of people.

Working as a sales agent for Criminal Damage in the street wear section I noticed a variety of key trends emerging, all following the theme of American Vintage styles. From dirty wash denims in a range of colours, to the already popular checked shirts and jackets and most popularly the varsity jacket – with contrasting sleeves and torso and college style motifs. Some of the preppy styles that we have noticed in St Andrews have now branched into the street wear market, making the familiar college style a very popular one to follow as 2010 moves on. In addition to this, following the trend set by Moncler it seems that quilted jackets are here to stay. This was best seen on the Diesel stand contrasted with worn wash jeans, and pale printed graphic t-shirt.

Amongst the hustle and bustle of the show however it seems that despite the emergence of new trends and adaptations of existing ones, many brands are still holding onto classic pieces, blue denims and pale knits to carry them through to the summer. Unfortunatley due to secretive competition between brands pictures where hard to snap – but I did manage to spot one on the shelves of WH Smiths on the front cover of this months Drapers magazine showing an awesome black and white varsity style jacket by our very own Criminal Damage (not that im bragging!).

Last sunday, a great group of young university students met in the early hours on the quad. Hung over? Yes. Sleep deprived? Yes. Ready to sing? Absolutely. This is their story.

There probably is not another person who could have pulled this off better than Laura Fisher.

PS check out the special cameo from yours truly (I’m the crazy looking one with all the records – thanks Freddie)!

Kate Moss for Longchamp by Elise

We’re almost to the end of the exam diet and the sun has come out today. To complete my good mood I just came across a fun piece of news. We love Longchamp handbags and totes for obvious reasons (some of which we’ve outlined in previous articles) Kate Moss has designed a range of the bags for Longchamp (she’ll do a capsule collection twice a year), and continue as the face as the company. She’s already helped with the design process for the Legende bag anyway, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the bags keep with the Longchamp look. And the collection touches down on February 11th, so we won’t have to wait long to see them. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, actually. Hmm.

These would have been a nice pair to be wearing the past couple of days. Nothing like bright cherry red against all the slush on the path to the library. Also, there’s nothing like Dior to raise your mood in the midst of revision. Happy procrastinating, everyone.

They Do It Because We Were Born To Do It (UPDATED) by Dan

Just finished an exam so I’m gonna keep this short and sweet:

So I finally gave in and bought FabricLive 37 which for those of you who don’t know was pivotal in making dubstep what it is today. Its an epic hour long mix of some of the most famous dubstep tracks out there. Only problem is its $9.99 on iTunes. What kind of price is that for an hour long mix? You can get a bunch of free mixes online but I figured since you have to pay for this one, it must be good. Its actually a pretty incredible mix – not necessarily worth the price, but at least I supported some starving artists right? Right. My favorite track at the moment is by Caspa and opens up the mix. Its called “born to do it.” Check it out.

I’m not gonna put a free download but here’s where you can buy it on iTunes.

Some of you are experiencing troubles with the flash player so here’s a youtube clip of the song:

Do your New Years Resolutions in style by Sara

I dunno bout all of you, but one of my new years resolutions is to start working out again (original, I know right? haha). Well, I say – why not work out in style? I think Stella McCartney’s new SS10 line for Adidas is prefect start. So just pick your poison – dance, running, tennis, golf – get dressed up and work up a lil sweat in style!
