This is just me having a rant. I am bored of the snow. There is even snow on this freakin’ page! And then I saw this print on FFFound and it just pushed me over the edge. Continue reading

The day has finally come people. Girl Talk’s 5th album of absolutely mind blowing mashups is here. To be honest, I would have posted a link earlier but I just kind of assumed that everyone had been following Girl Talk as religiously as I had been since his last album came out but over the past week, I’ve had a lot of people asking me where they could get it, so here we are. There really isn’t anything else to day. Go download it now!

While you’re waiting for the download, here is my favorite track from the album:

So this is just a little blast for you all to check out Kanye West’s new album – “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”.It is incredible. It comes with the thirty-minute movie which I am sure you have all seen, even if it is only a snippet. He seems to have outdone himself, moving beyond his original style coined in the College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation series. I have put my favourite track up for everybody…its Bon Iver, one of my all time fave chillouts, mixed with Kayne’s genius. Lovez it.

Magnetic Man by Dan

Let me tell you about three young men named Skream, Benga and Artwork. They went on a magical adventure together. When they returned from this adventure, they were Magnetic Man – and so much more than the sum of its parts, Magnetic Man has so far released one track and had one top 10 single. Their fourth coming album is gonna blow minds and eardrums and if you’re anyone who’s anyone, you’ll be at their October 30th show in Sub Club, Glasgow. There has been quite a bit of hype thus far about Magnetic Man live shows. From everything I’ve been hearing, they sound like the Daft Punk of dubstep and drum n bass – using three computers to build original live renditions of their studio tracks. Skream and Benga have said they will mix in parts of their solo tracks as well. Dubstep mashup anyone?

Check out their most recent radio show from August 4th:

Picked up some sick mashups from DJ E this week. Something that I think is really gonna start catching on more and more is mashups/remixes/originals that combine hip hop and dubstep. They’re two genres that honestly should have met earlier. This first mashup is a delicate blend of Mt Eden Dubstep and Wiz Khalifa titled “Say Dubstep”

And the second is a nice little blend of DJ E, The XX and Mims titled “Intro Like This”

Welcome Home by Dan

First, an apology: At we strive to keep up to date as much as we possibly can. Unfortunately, we all are students and are subject to deadlines and busy periods throughout the year. Rest assured, though, we are back and we’re not going anywhere.

Now, to the fun stuff:

Hope everyone’s break was amazing and all that it could be. A lot of people have for the most part, gotten over the fashion shows (scars healing, friendships mending, hangovers finally susbising etc) but there is one thing thats pretty much universally asked: where can we get the music? Well my friends, the time has come to talk of just that. Below is the music from both FS and DW with direct download links. Enjoy this beautiful ear candy and next time someone tells you St. Andrews doesn’t have a music scene, you show them these.

I’m a big fan of mash-ups. I remember going to BootieSF when I was younger and being blown away at the quality of mash-ups that were being produced. I think the seminal moment for me though was the first time I heard The Grey Album by Dangermouse. I’m a massive Beatles fan and I love Jay-Z, but to hear both of them mashed together was mind blowing. Nowadays mashups are an accepted genre that everyone enjoys thanks to the likes of Girl Talk and most recently Glee.

Just a day or so ago I ran across Tea Sea Records newest addition, A mashup of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and The Magical Mystery Tour dubbed Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers it is 27 songs of pure genius.  All of the samples are first class and Wu Tang’s lyrics meld seamlessly. I’ve given this a couple of listens all the way through now and every song is first class. I’d almost consider it better than the Grey Album, which says a lot because its one of my favorite albums of all time.  Unfortunately, Tea Sea was told to take down the tracks off their website, but it is still up on Soundcloud. I’ve posted the full mix down below, but you can find the separated album with a little googling.
